Orchard — Apple Music Scrobbler · Last updated: April 7, 2026
1. What Orchard Does
Orchard is a music scrobbling app that connects your Apple Music listening history to your Last.fm account. It reads what you're currently playing and sends that information to Last.fm to build your listening profile.
2. Data We Collect
Orchard collects the minimum data necessary to function:
- Apple Music Playback Data: Track title, artist name, album name, playback duration, and play timestamps. This data is read from your device's media library using Apple's MediaPlayer framework.
- Last.fm Session Key: A permanent authentication token provided by Last.fm after you log in. Your Last.fm password is never stored by Orchard.
- Last.fm Username: Used to display your profile within the app.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Scrobbling: Playback data is sent directly from your device to the Last.fm API (
ws.audioscrobbler.com) to log your listening history.
- Now Playing: The currently playing track is sent to Last.fm to update your "Now Playing" status.
- Album Art: Track metadata is sent to Last.fm's public API to retrieve album artwork for display within the app.
4. Data Storage
- On Device: Your Last.fm session key and username are stored securely in the iOS Keychain via
expo-secure-store. No data is stored in plain text.
- No Server: Orchard does not operate its own database for user data. All scrobble data is sent directly to Last.fm.
- No Analytics: Orchard does not use any analytics SDKs (no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude).
5. Third-Party Services
Orchard integrates with the following third-party services:
- Last.fm (CBS Interactive) — for scrobbling and music data. Subject to Last.fm Terms of Use.
- Google AdMob (Google LLC) — for displaying advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. Subject to Google Privacy Policy.
- Apple Music (Apple Inc.) — for reading your media library. Subject to Apple Privacy Policy.
6. Advertising & Tracking
Orchard displays banner advertisements powered by Google AdMob. Before any ad-related tracking occurs, Orchard requests your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.
- If you allow tracking, AdMob may show personalized ads based on your interests.
- If you deny tracking, AdMob will show non-personalized ads only. Orchard functions identically in both cases.
You can change your tracking permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
7. Data Sharing
Orchard does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone. Data is only transmitted to:
- Last.fm — for the scrobbling service you opted into
- Google AdMob — for displaying ads (subject to your ATT consent)
8. Data Retention & Deletion
- Tapping "Disconnect Last.fm" in the app immediately deletes your session key and username from the device.
- Uninstalling Orchard removes all locally stored data.
- To delete your scrobble history, visit Last.fm Account Settings.
9. Children's Privacy
Orchard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us.
10. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR and LGPD), you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for tracking at any time
- Object to data processing
11. Security
Orchard uses HTTPS for all network communication. Credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain, which is hardware-encrypted. No passwords are stored by Orchard at any time.
